Who I am

I’m an UX professional looking for my next adventure. I’m most excited about bringing people together to build the next generation of innovative technology.

In-House Research

I have over 7 years of experience as a UX Researcher in Google Cloud and Ads, where I spearheaded mixed method foundational and tactical research initiatives to hone the user focus of our products. I excel at increasing visibility and trust in UX and building strong stakeholder relationships, while multiplying business and user value.

Freelance

I have worked with organizations big and small as an UX strategist, leveraging the user voice to define organizational goals. I specialize in setting and achieving visions, finding the right product-market fit, 10xing growth, and turning good ideas into great solutions.

Highlighted Skills

I am skilled at concept development, usability testing, CUJ and persona creation, diary studies, surveys, rapid prototyping, ethnographic research, empathy sessions, and workshop facilitation .

What’s unique about me

I’m engaging

I join teams that ‘don’t need’ UXR and then have them asking for more studies within weeks. It’s common for me to have 5-10 engineers on the livestream for a session. I find new and unique ways to engage stakeholders, such as:

  • Making The Office memes to complement deliverables

  • Sharing insights 1:1 with the chatty stakeholders and via group presentations for the ‘camera off, on mute’ folks

  • Using a combination of formal reports, quick docs, chat rooms, emails, and even games to communicate findings

I’m nosy

I need to get to the bottom of an issue, whether it’s why users aren’t engaging with our product or reality TV drama. My PM once described me as a “relentless pursuer of truth.” I’ll keep asking questions until I understand why we’re doing something, how it’ll impact users, and how we can make it better.

I’m ambitous

I get bored easily and I can’t stay engaged if I don’t feel like I’m growing. They say diamonds are made under pressure and that’s definitely true for my work.

My goal is to work in a space that’s dynamic, innovative, and ambiguous, pushing me to grow, learn, and get uncomfortable.

  • "Nila is one of the very best UXers -- including designers, researchers, and writers -- I worked with during my 7 years at Google. She has a rare ability to see and lead the big-picture view (strategic) as well as roll up her sleeves and do an enormous amount of work herself when needed (tactical)."
